Student Wins Journalism Award
Year 10 Student Wins Best Reporter in Young Reporter of the Year awards
One of the college’s gifted Year 10 students has won a prestigious journalism award. Liberty won Best Reporter in the Local Guardian Young Reporter of the Year awards after competing against almost 1,000 other students from the Greater London area. Liberty (on the left in the picture) also won in the Extra Mile category for her article GCSEs? No Problem – I’ve Beaten Cancer!
One of the youngest finalists, Liberty has written eight articles for the Croydon Local Guardian over the past year as part of the Young Reporter scheme. As part of her prize, she was given the opportunity to spend a day at Kingston University experiencing life as a journalism student, where she used professional publishing software alongside final year students to produce a new newspaper, ‘The London Comet.’
