College Awarded Silver Healthy Schools Award
Norbury Manor becomes the first secondary school in Croydon to attain the award
Norbury Manor has become the first secondary school in Croydon to achieve the Healthy Schools London Silver Award. Contributions from the whole college community helped in meeting the programme’s requisite high standards along with great support from the Croydon Healthy Schools team and the college's catering partner, Independent Catering.
Mrs Francis and Mrs Kershaw accepted the award on behalf of the college at a ceremony in City Hall chaired by Public Health England's Dr Yvonne Doyle on 4th June. The range of speakers at the event included MP and Assembly member Victoria Borwick as well as representatives from the DfE, Institute of Education, Office of the Children’s Commissioner, Ofsted and the youth-led campaign, Oii My Size.
The college intends to keep health issues such as balanced nutrition, the uptake of school meals and improvements in the school dining experience high on its agenda; a focus on the importance of exercise, positive relationships and well-being will continue to complement and inform this approach.
