'Bake Off' Competition Delights
Students excel in first internal baking contest of 2025
The Norbury High School for Girls 'bake off' challenge was a huge success.
A initial field of 12 entrants was whittled down to six - four from year 7, one from year 8 and one from year 11 - who were called upon to put their baking skills to the test in the grand final on Monday 13th January.
All six performed exceptionally well and, as might be expected from such accomplished bakers, the contest was a close-run thing. But, with help from our guest judge and local independent baker, Omo Bakes, we eventually found our winner.
First prize went to Shayma Zerrouk (pictured) for her incredible three-tier, layered snowman cake.
In the inter-house contest, it seemed only appropriate that Hussain House (named after Great British Bake Off winner, Nadiya Hussain MBE) won the most points overall, 160. Hadid House came second, with 120 points, while Asher-Smith (80 points) and Reid (40 points) came third and fourth, respectively.
Norbury High School for Girls would like to thank all those who entered and helped out, especially Miss Noh and Mr Torres Ochoa from the Food Technology department for facilitating the event.
