Number Day 2024
Students and staff raise funds for NSPCC
Norbury High celebrated Number Day on Friday 2nd February. The annual nationwide NSPCC fundraiser offers students an opportunity to develop and improve their numeracy skills so has long been a fixture on the Norbury High calendar.
The Maths Dept set up a number of events in the run-up to the day itself. All our year 8 students, as well as around 40 year 9 students, took part in a maths 'escape room' challenge. The winning team did exceptionally well to complete the trial in just over 38 minutes!
Year 9 and 10 students developed ideas for fundraising stalls using the BBC's Dragons' Den for inspiration and worked hard to turn their initial £20 investments into winning proposals. Our enterprising teams set up stalls selling samosas, cake pops and other snacks with one group developing a games stand where customers had the opportunity to win prizes. Other activities included a puzzle raffle and a times tables competition.
Overall, just over £550 was raised for the NSPCC to help them provide vital support to children and young adults across the UK. We're very grateful to all staff and students who took part and helped make the day a success.
